Mums' campaign on A49 crossing

3.44.06pm GMT Fri 5th Mar 2010

Local mums took their campaign for a pedestrian crossing on the A49 at Much Birch to the Much Birch Parish Council last night (4th March). Local mum Sharon Davies is leading a campaign for a pedestrian crossing after a lorry narrowly missed her daughter when the family were crossing the road to get to Much Birch Primary School. Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire attended the Parish Council with Sharon and other concerned residents to show her support and at their request.

Sarah Carr said,

"It is important that everyone in the local community and those elected work together to convince the Highways Agency of the need for a Pedestrian crossing on the A49 at Much Birch. With a doctors' surgery, church and community hall on one side of the busy road and the primary school on the other road safety is a real concern. I strongly support Sharon and will do all I can to help her get a safe school crossing."
