Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire, has welcomed the news that a planning application to build a new GP centre on the gardens of the Stonebow Unit in Hereford has been deferred. The news came at a packed meeting of Herefordshire Council's Planning Committee which Sarah Carr attended alongside concerned members of the public.
"Herefordshire Council Planning Committee has received many letters and emails in objection to this planning application including from myself. Building over a third of the gardens of the Stonebow Mental Health Unit is not an acceptable location for the new GP led health centre. My objections range from environmental, parking and traffic considerations to the well-being of the patients of the Stonebow Unit with the loss of an important therapeutic amenity and loss of privacy.
"I trust that Herefordshire Primary Care Trust in requesting to defer the planning application will in the near future withdraw the planning application in its entirety which will be a great relief to clinicians, patients and community members."
