Sarah Carr: Standards Rise at Hereford Hospitals
2.25.32pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 16th Oct 2009
Commenting on the publication of the annual CareQuality Commission report into standards at Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust, Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire, has praised Trust staff and management for improving services. The quality of services at the Trust which includes Hereford's County Hospital and Community Hospitals for 2008/09 have been rated as 'good' having previously been rated as 'fair' for the years 2006/08.
Sarah Carr said,
"I am very pleased services at Hereford County Hospital and our local community hospitals are improving and that they have been rated as good by the CareQuality Commission. I congratulate staff members for this good assessment. It is very welcome news.
"I am in regular contact with Herefordshire NHS and Hospital management and recently wrote to the Chief Executive of the Hospitals Trust on behalf of a local resident concerned about the lack of hand washing signs in the toilets at the County Hospital. I am very pleased that as a result of my letters new signs have now been installed in all the toilets at Hereford's County Hospital. Infection control is vital.
"Whilst Hospital staff and management will be pleased with the 'good' rating there is still more work to be done in other areas. The quality of financial management is still rated as 'fair' and in these times when budgets are so tight, good financial management is crucial to maintain the quality and breadth of services."
