Hereford Sixth Form Students debate Edgar Street Grid

12.52.24pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 10th Oct 2009

Hereford Sixth Form College demonstrated once again why it is one of the best state sixth form colleges in the country on Thursday 8th October. Over 200 students packed in to the main hall at lunchtime to debate the future of Hereford and specifically the Edgar Street Grid Development (ESG).

One student spoke in favour of the ESG and one against. Representatives from each of the political parties, the Chief Executive of the Edgar Street Grid Company and the Central Ward Councillor all attended and took questions from the audience.

Commenting on the debate Hereford's Liberal Democrat Prospective MP, Sarah Carr, said,

"I live in Hereford with my family and I am very passionate about the future of our City. The two student speakers were amazing and it was wonderful to see so many young people passionate about Hereford. I have made it very clear that I want to see more leisure facilities for local people included in the Edgar Street Grid development."
