Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire has signed up to the national 10:10 campaign and in doing so has pledged to reduce her carbon emissions by 10% in 2010. The campaign encourages individuals, schools, hospitals, businesses and organisations to cut their own emissions by making simple changes that will have a wider effect in the fight against climate change.
"I am pleased to have signed up to the 10:10 campaign, as it is an excellent way to combat climate change. It demonstrates that if everybody contributes by cutting their own emissions or emissions in their workplace or school and by making small but significant changes to our lifestyles, then we can make a real and substantial step towards fighting the damage that is being done to our environment.
"I would encourage everybody in Hereford, Ross and South Herefordshire to sign up to the campaign regardless of their party politics as damage to the environment is one of the most serious issues facing us today. Carbon emissions are doing profound and irreversible damage but if everyone commits themselves in a small way to cutting their own emissions by 10% in 2010 then we can help to achieve a greener and cleaner county for all."
