Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Lib Dems in Wales, visits Hereford to support Sarah Carr's 'Protect our Local Post Offices' campaign

Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Wales, came to Hereford on Thursday 20th August in support of Sarah Carr's ongoing campaign to protect Herefordshire Post Offices. Kirsty Williams joined Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire and her volunteer team campaigning in Hereford's high town to find out what extra services local people think should be offered at their nearest Post Office. Kirsty Williams is the Welsh Assembly Member for neighbouring constituency Brecon and Radnorshire.

Sarah said,

"I am delighted that Kirsty is so supportive of my campaigning especially to protect our post offices which play such as vital role in our communities. During the day Kirsty spoke to many local people but she was also very pleased to speak to many residents from her own constituency of Brecon and Radnorshire who were shopping in Hereford for the day!

"Kirsty and I have lots in common not least the importance of post offices but also local health services. Hereford County Hospital is used by many of her constituents. We also regularly discuss farming issues and the unnecessary bureaucracy imposed on the agricultural sector."

Sarah Carr is concerned local post offices may face another round of damaging closures due to government funding cuts, following the 10,000 post offices that have already been closed by successive Labour and Conservative governments.
