5.23.06pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 28th Jul 2009
Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire, today (28th July) met with Joanne Newton, Chairman of Herefordshire Primary Care Trust and Chris Bull, Chief Executive of NHS Herefordshire. The trio discussed health issues in the county ranging from swine flu, to Herefordshire Public Services, to commissioning of health services, to the new GP 8am til 8pm access centre and future challenges for the NHS in Herefordshire.
Commenting on the meeting, Sarah Carr said,
"My top priority today was to hear that thorough plans have been put in place to deal with the swine flu pandemic with anti-viral collection points at pharmacies across Herefordshire should they be required. If people think they have swine flu they should stay at home, go online and check symptoms on www.nhs.uk or call the swine flu information line on 0800 1513513.
"I also questioned Mrs Newton and Mr Bull at length on results of the joint working of the Primary Care Trust and Herefordshire Council including any cost savings and improved service delivery. Mr Bull has promised to write to me with more figures.
"I left Mrs Newton and Mr Bull in no doubt as to my attention in ensuring the people of Herefordshire receive the best possible health care and also my oversight of how tax-payers money is spent."
