Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire, attended the official opening ceremony of Garway Primary School's wind turbine and solar panels at on Tuesday 14th July. Sarah met with head teacher Mrs Lloyd Williams, the teacher behind the eco-project Karen James, governors and local residents.
"Garway Primary School children themselves came up this project taking action to reduce their school's energy costs and demonstrating what we can do locally, here in Herefordshire, to stop being so reliant on dwindling fossil fuel resources.
"The decisions we all make now will affect the planet and our way of life for generations. It is fantastic that so many Herefordshire schools are providing children with real understanding of the impact of climate change and the need for renewable energy supplies. Garway Primary School is leading the way as an Eco-School in this 100% grant funded project. I would like to extend my congratulations to the whole school."
