Carr calls for centrally imposed housing targets to be scrapped.10.45.00am GMT Wed 25th Feb 2009
Local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Sarah Carr is supporting a petition on the No 10 website, calling on Gordon Brown to suspend the Regional Spatial Strategy. "Local people are furious that their Conservative run councils are supporting plans for centrally imposed housing without putting up a fight," said Sarah. "The petition on the No10 website gives people the opportunity to protest about Gordon Brown's housing plans that could plough over vital green spaces. They are based on an assessment that bears no relation to current economic circumstances or employment prospects." "I believe that local communities and local councils should set their own targets based on local, sustainable housing needs including affordable homes." The petition was submitted by Richard Burt, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for West Worcestershire. You can find a direct link to the petition here. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/SuspendRSS/
