Left to right: Roger Williams MP, Sarah Carr PPC, Kirsty Williams AM and Paul Keetch MP met in Westminster to discuss healthcare across The Marches and mid-Wales.

Hereford and South Herefordshire Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Sarah Carr has congratulated Kirsty Williams, the Welsh Assembly Member for neighbouring Brecon and Radnorshire on being elected Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Wales, the first ever female leader of a political party in Wales.

Sarah said,

"I know Kirsty well - she is feisty with a reputation as a very effective political speaker and Assembly Member, absolutely committed to defending services and standing up for people in Brecon and Radnorshire. Kirsty and I have a lot in common not least Hereford County Hospital which serves many of her constituents and of course the rural nature of the neighbouring areas. Kirsty's achievements are all the more impressive as a mother to three children aged 7, 4 and 2!"

Like Sarah, Kirsty was brought up by parents who often discussed politics at home so their daughters' choice of careers came as no great surprise. Sarah is looking forward to welcoming Kirsty to an event for Liberal Democrat members and supporters in the Hereford and South Herefordshire constituency later in the year.
