Post Office Contract Account Award welcomed by Campaigner

Sarah Carr and our Lib Dem councillors are committed to supporting local post offices.

Post office campaigner and Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate Sarah Carr has welcomed the news that the government is cancelling the procurement process for the Post Office Card Account (POCA) and is awarding the contract directly to the Post Office for a further five years.

Sarah said:

"This announcement comes as a huge relief to the thousands of Post Office Card Account holders, many Sub Post Masters and communities in Herefordshire that may have lost even more post offices across the county if the decision had been different. The Post Office Card Account should never have been put out to tender in the first place. "3,000 more post offices would have been under threat across the UK if the POCA had been given to a different organisation. I welcome the news that the POCA has been awarded to the Post Office but the government has wasted time and money and caused immeasurable heartache by dragging this process out for so long."
