Sarah Carr joined Denis Kirk, former Chairman of Ross-on-Wye branch of the British Heart Foundation, and many others to support the work of the BHF in our county.

Sarah Carr, local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner, has given her support to the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) local appeal to raise £98,000 towards the costs of a new state of the art 4D Echocardiograph (Echo) Machine for Hereford's County Hospital.

At the launch of the Heartbeat Appeal on Tuesday evening 21st October at Hereford County Hospital, Sarah listened to Dr Prasad, consultant cardiologist at Hereford County Hospital talking about the benefits of the new Echo machine to people suffering from heart conditions across Herefordshire. Sarah commented at the event,

"With an older population, Herefordshire has high numbers of heart failure patients and I want to ensure we have the very best equipment at Hereford County Hospital to help detect and rule out heart conditions and ensure patients receive the treatment they need.

"The people of Herefordshire are incredibly supportive of our local health service especially in fundraising for vital services. I hope local people will support the Herefordshire Heartbeat Appeal to provide the best possible heart treatment and care locally."

At the Heartbeat Appeal Launch, Sarah was fascinated to see a working state of the art Echo machine which was on loan for the evening. Sarah heard how the completely painless scans showing 3D and 4D images of the patients' heart would provide a fantastic diagnosis tool for patients' heart conditions in Herefordshire. Sarah also listened to the stories of two local people Stan Little and Denis Kirk who had been diagnosed with heart problems and both spoke of the importance of the BHF and why a state of the art Echo machine is needed.
