Fighting the closure of Redhill post office!

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Sarah Carr, earlier today (9th September) joined Redhill residents to protest against government plans to close the popular post office at Redhill Stores. The event was organised by Wendy Jones and the Redhill Residents' Association. Local people turned out in force in the pouring rain holding many homemade banners and placards and chanting 'Save Redhill Post Office' to television cameras. Sarah has been campaigning against the proposed closure of Redhill Post Office from the day it was announced.

Sarah Carr said, "Redhill Post Office is at the heart of the local community. Local residents came out in force today in protest to campaign to save the post office and to support the postmaster and his family who have run Redhill Stores for 55 years. I will continue to campaign to save Redhill Post Office. I urge concerned local residents to write to Post Office Ltd and Postwatch stating why they think Redhill Post Office should be saved from closure."

"It is shameful that Post Offices have been closed under successive Conservative and Labour governments. My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I are campaigning against the closures because we are hugely concerned about the impact of these closures on local people in our towns and villages. Only the Liberal Democrats have fully costed alternative policies to save our post offices and open new post offices where they are needed by local people."
