Sarah Carr and her team have been working with post offices such as Tudorville to resist plans to close or down-size post offices across the County

Following the announcement on 27th August of the closure of five post offices in the Hereford and South Herefordshire constituency, local campaigner Sarah Carr has been working hard door to door alerting residents to the closures and encouraging people to make their voice heard. Sarah and her team have been on the ground in the affected communities every day meeting local residents, listening to their concerns and delivering thousands of leaflets to peoples' homes.

Sarah's hard work leading the campaign to save our post offices alongside local MP Paul Keetch, has resulted in thousands of petition responses, letters, emails and phone calls over the past week and more continue to flood in. Residents in Redhill, Hereford and Tudorville, Ross have been quick to show their disgust at government proposals to close their post offices.

Sarah Carr said, "I am working closely with the postmasters and local residents especially in Redhill and Tudorville to show the government how important these post offices are in our communities and why they must not be closed. An 'outreach service' has been proposed for Tudorville but with no detail as to when it would be open so I have already asked Paul Keetch as our MP to obtain more detail directly from Post Office Ltd.

"However, the residents of Redhill have been abandoned by Gordon Brown and are now expected to travel and cross the busy A49 to get to another post office. It is a step too far for many pensioners, those with mobility problems and people with young children in the Redhill area. As well as continuing to campaign on the street, I will be attending the Redhill Residents Association Public meeting on Thursday 4th September at 7pm at the Jubilee Hall. I am also planning a Day of Protest on Tuesday 9th September and I urge all affected residents to come to your post office that morning to take part in the protest and make our voice heard! Only the Liberal Democrats have fully costed polices to save our post offices. I hope that other political parties will start to take up these existing Liberal Democrat policies as the way forward to save our post offices."
