Local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Sarah Carr attended two very different but successful events in South Herefordshire over the weekend (2nd/3rd August). The first on Saturday was the Ross Carnival and the second on Sunday was the Herefordshire Country Fair. The common factor for both was the huge numbers of people who volunteered their time to help their local community in organising both events and in manning many of the community focused stalls.

Over the weekend, accompanied by a team of volunteers, Sarah issued and collected hundreds of post cards signed by residents to send directly to Gordon Brown against the closure of Herefordshire Post Offices and also gathered hundreds of signatures from people against BT's proposals to close 111 phone boxes across the county - often a life line in those areas with poor mobile coverage or when emergencies happen.
