The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Raising Our Game Launch event was held at the Leadership Trust at Weston-Under-Penyard today (23rd May) to wish county athletes "good luck" for the Beijing Olympic Games and to help promote the benefits arising out of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games for Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Participating in the event, Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire said,
"Today I met some inspiring athletes who spoke about the incredibly positive impact of sport on young people. I heard sportsmen and women speak about the importance of hard work and dedication in working towards a goal of being the best you can be."
"I regularly speak to young people about what they would like more of in Herefordshire and a range of sports facilities are always mentioned."
"I wholeheartedly wish all Herefordshire athletes the very best of luck competing in Beijing this summer. Looking to 2012 I am eager that Herefordshire benefits economically and socially from the once in lifetime opportunity of the Olympics being held in our home country and that our young people feel truly inspired to fulfil the Olympic dream."
